John knew he wanted to become a lawyer when he was just a kid. It was 1976, and he saw a television interview with F. Lee Bailey, who was defending Patty Hearst. The attorney was confident, intelligent, and well-spoken, and John thought, “I want to be like that guy.” However, he didn’t take a direct path to realizing his career aspirations.
First, John matriculated at Norwich University, a private military college in Vermont, and graduated in 1990. Upon graduation from college, John was commissioned an officer in the United States Navy. He served on active duty for six years, including two overseas deployments (and fourteen years thereafter in the reserves). He then enrolled in law school at the University at Buffalo School of Law and found a position with a small personal injury law firm during the summer months. He graduated from law school in 1999 and immediately began working at the largest personal injury law firms in Buffalo, New York. John worked there for 21 years, gained a ton of experience while handling thousands of cases, and developed a reputation as a top-tier personal injury lawyer.
John founded Looney Injury Law in November 2021 and focuses exclusively on personal injury cases. He is committed to doing what is right for his clients and works to maximize their financial recovery by carefully evaluating their cases, identifying all possible legal options, and fighting for what he believes is right.
Never one to back down, John has earned a reputation as a fighter who meticulously prepares and aggressively litigates each case he takes on. Insurance claims adjusters and defense attorneys know he has extensive trial experience, and he leverages his reputation as a seasoned trial lawyer to negotiate favorable outcomes for his clients.
John is a well-known and highly respected personal injury attorney, recognized by his clients and colleagues for his forthright demeanor, strong work ethic, and compassionate approach to seeking justice. Outside of work, John is a devoted husband to his wife, Megan, of over 30 years, and a proud father to their adult three sons.
